1st October, 2018 | Badagry, Lagos.
If happiness is the goal – and it should be, then adventures should be a priority. – Richard Branson
Growing up, they say is complicated, and as we discover the world around us, whilst losing the toga of innocence childhood bestows on each and everyone of us, our once curious minds settle into hackneyed routines, as we trudge along, going through the motions that ensures survival. Frank Boorman once said, exploration is the essence of the human spirit, for with exploration, our spirits open, unhindered by fear, propelled by curiosity and the sense of something anew to be discovered, rekindling the novelty of knowledge. With TEDxAjah Adventures we want to bring back the wonder, emphasize the learning process and take you on journeys of discovery through hidden worlds in and around the city where you’ll rekindle the excitement of life, and learning new things.
To celebrate the learning process, we have planned fun and nerdy field trips to bring you out and into some of Lagos’s hidden treasure spots. We want to use this opportunity to extend the TEDx phenomenon beyond the conference format and offer you a more personal way to interface with innovators and ideas worth spreading.
Join us for a full day of adventures, opening your mind to new vistas in history, technology, craft and much more!
Space is limited, so make sure you’re on our list and be the first to hear about upcoming Adventures!
Come let's explore our history together!

Why should I be here?
Traditionally known as Gbagle, Badagry is best known for its beautiful beaches, resorts, and its museum that showcases the fetters and other vestiges of the lucrative and cruel trade in humans.
This year, TedxAjah Adventures takes you on a journey through this beautiful sun-drenched town, as we explore attractions such as:
-The first storey building; built in 1854
-The Brazilian Barracoon; built in 1840 by Seriki Williams, the 19th century slave turned businessman
-The Mobee Royal Family Slave relics
-The District Officers residence; built in 1878
-The Gberefu Island (Point of No Return); I hear you can still hear the slaves gnashing their teeth as you approach
-And many more amazing stops laden with great stories of the beautiful land of Badagry.
